I am a singer songwriter and visual artist based in Los Angeles.

I have a very deep love for both folk songs and children’s picture books and their simple, evocative structures, and I have been drawing and singing made-up scenarios my whole life.

My interest lies in the language of the imagination, of the invisible, of the unreal; creating and re-creating models of the landscapes between perception and expression.

Don Quixote, Where The Wild Things Are, Alice in Wonderland, Borges, Cortazar, Murakami, Hesse, Mann, Saunders, Cocteau, the Surrealists, Romanticism, Absurdity.

As an illustrator, I work with pen and ink and watercolor, with an eye for the
classic, the quiet, and the dreamlike. I begin with lists of words- of
associations, structures, symbols, suggestions, relationships, dynamics to keep in mind- then move on to
preliminary sketches and compositional studies, then ink over final
drawings, and last comes paint on separate paper using a light table.

My illustrations are found in printed books, protest signs (including Raising Our Voices,
for which I was recently noted by Publisher’s Weekly as a major
contributing illustrator), printed materials and menus for The Crescent Hotel
Beverly Hills where I am an illustrator-in-residence, albums, logos, and art galleries. As a
singer songwriter, I’ve been writing, performing, and recording songs since
2006.

As of autumn 2018, I will be joining the Faculty at the Brentwood Art Center in Los Angeles, teaching illustration and conceptual drawing.

I am a proud member of SCBWI(Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators), We Need Diverse Books, BMI,  and Women Who Draw.
